The Feeling -
University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Sun. 19th November
What can I say - it was excellent. Since seeing them at V they
seemed a lot more confident - in fact there's no question about it
they put on a real good live show- really, really good. We were
standing towards the front on the left by the bar - perfect spot for
booze and dancing.
They put on an excellent and very energetic performance - perfect
for seeing live I tell thee. I would advise anyone who hates them to
go see them. I danced all the time except when they did a shit song
which I booed to. It was pish like. Apart from that - faultless.
They worked their way through all the singles they've released and a
few other tunes off the album. They played a new song from their
upcoming album which was not too bad. The highlight of the evening
for me was their cover of Video Killed the radio star - excellent
and got the whole place bouncing. Cheesy yes. But oh so very good.
The crowd was a mix of all sorts of people and the best thing was
that it wasn't a shy crowd so it was an excellent atmosphere. I
think people basically went along to enjoy themselves and not judge
the band for its autistic integrity. To steal a quote from the
Guardian review last week when they were playing down in Brighton -
well actually I can't because I can't remember it word for word.
Basically the reviewer said the best thing was that half the crowd
came along and let their hair down for once and just enjoyed the
show rather then letting themselves be dictated by what was "cool".
The other half of the crowd just didn't give a shit.
I didn't give a shit and had a cracking night. And judging by the
crowd no one else did either.
Captain were pretty good as well. I liked them and they were very
smartly dressed. Ally was gushing up the front with the 10 yr olds.
Excellent gig - 9/10.
